Comanagement Improves Outcomes for Hip Fracture Patients
10/14/09
Researchers at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry studied the benefit of having geriatricians and orthopedic surgeons work together to manage the care of hip fracture patients. Despite the older patient population with greater co-morbidities, the patients receiving the "TEAM" care had better outcomes including shorter time to surgery, fewer infections and shorter length of stay post surgery.
We applaud the University of Rochester for their commitment to better care for hip fracture patients and hope that their experience will become a best practice for all hip fracture patients.
