Research Overview Participate In a Study Current Participants FAQ

Info For Current Participants

A Hearty HELLO and WELCOME to our current and past study participants! We hope that this portion of FORE’s web site will be helpful to you as a reference for questions you might have during your participation. Any suggestions or additions you would like to see in this section are welcomed!

Thank you for the time and effort you put forth each day to make these research studies possible. Your contribution to the discoveries of new treatments and preventative measures for osteoporosis are greatly appreciated by the staff, the medical community, and most of all, those with osteoporosis.

Visit Tips

Don’t forget your study medication!
It’s very important to remember this! You don’t want to have to return for an additional appointment.

Do you need to be fasting?
Generally, a fasting visit requires that you have nothing, except water for 8-12 hours before your study visit (check with your coordinator for specific instructions). Don’t forget that a modest amount of water is OK. You don’t want to be dehydrated! Being well hydrated can make a blood draw easier. REMEMBER – NO COFFEE!

Do we need a urine sample?
This is another good reason to not be dehydrated! If you arrive at the office and need to “go” – don’t forget to ask the receptionist to check with your study coordinator first!

Changing your appointment?
Please call us as soon as possible so we can accommodate your schedule and ours!

Do you know how long your appointment will take?
Don’t hesitate to call your study coordinator to ask these types of questions!

Be prepared to discuss any new health problems or new medications you are taking?
Keeping accurate records is very helpful to us! We will be asking you about these things at every visit and if you are prepared your appointment will go much more smoothly!

Are you keeping a study diary?
If your study coordinator has given you a diary, it is important that you bring it to your visit complete and ready for review!
